This food stall is located in the Platinum mall's courtyard, adjacent to Pratunam Market, and is about a 10-minute walk from BTS Ratchatehewi or Chidlom stations to Petchaburi Street.
This red and yellow booth is located right in front of the McDonald's fast food restaurant at Platinum Mall. It's on the side of the road, so you'll find it easily.
This booth can be accessed through a variety of modes of transportation. We'll start with the cheapest option, which is the bus. No matter how far you travel, you simply have to pay 10 baht. Buses in Bangkok run on a number of routes, so you won't have to worry about finding one from wherever you are. Then there's the ship. The price remains the same at 10 baht, however this route is only available along the river road. If you take the boat, you must stop at Pratunam Pier and then walk for about 5 minutes to reach the restaurant. Bangkok Train Station is the final choice (BTS). I propose purchasing a one-day unlimited travel ticket for 140 baht during operating hours.
Platinum Mall-Pratunam Market shopping area
This Bangkok hotspot is well-known for its dirt-cheap items. Platinum Fashion Mall and Pratunam Market are the two main shopping areas in this neighborhood. Both are in the Petchaburi area, which has long been Bangkok's primary business sector. For those of you who like to shop, I heartily recommend both. When compared to other places, the costs offered can be doubled while maintaining the same level of quality. Pratunam market provides traditional Thai souvenirs.
Furthermore, this region is well-known for its street food. The grilled crocodile, which is roasted over the coals of this fire, is one of them. Typically, they operate from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Grilled crocodile meat - delicious?
That day I came to platinum mall at night, while thinking about the dinner menu, I found their booth. I think they are part of the Grand View Restaurant. I found the cooker wearing their uniforms.
Out of curiosity, I finally ordered a portion of crocodile BBQ meat. They did it swiftly. First they sliced grilled crocodile meat and put it together with rice, vegetables and delicious Thai barbecue sauce.
Served in a styrofoam box neatly. I smelled the appetizing aroma of the grill. From the looks of it I'm sure you will be very tempted.
The sour, spicy and sweet taste of the barbecue sauce is so pronounced, it is perfect to be enjoyed with crocodile meat which is seasoned with a little sour and the main Thai spices such as basil, garlic, ginger and others.
I was a bit surprised by the taste of this meat, I thought it would be similar to beef or pork. It turns out that the texture is more like chicken meat, but with a tougher and more fibrous version. As I approached the grill, I asked the salesman which part of the meat tasted best? The seller said, if you like fat then you can take the meat at the bottom (tail).
Since I don't like anything fatty, I ended up asking the seller to take the meat on top. Anyway, that night I was really very hungry. Whole meat makes me more excited.
The unique thing about the way they sell is that they try to present it in the form of a whole crocodile. I've never seen a crocodile up close, so this was the best experience for me. At the same time, being one of the memorable culinary experiences in Bangkok.
For one serving of this crocodile meat, you need to spend 300 baht or 9 dollars. Not so expensive for a unique dining experience that you won't find anywhere else.
